It's not religious, but individualistic ..!!

       यत्र नार्यस्तु पूज्यन्ते रमन्ते तत्र देवताः ।
यत्रैतास्तु न पूज्यन्ते सर्वास्तत्राफलाः क्रियाः ॥

  (The Goddesses are extremely happy where women are respected, Where they are not, all actions are fruitless.). This was our tradition.

While I was roaming through the net last day, my eyes caught on a campaign ( Abused Goddesses) by an ‘Anti-sex trafficking NGO’ named ‘Save Our Sisters’. 

They came up with images that depict Hindu goddesses Lakshmi, Saraswati and Durga as Victims of abuse. Goddesses are portrayed in the same attire in which we usually see them in the pictures but with swellings on their faces, the signs of abuse. The campaign simply and effectively captures India’s dangerous discrepancy.

In a country like India, it is an effective way to picture the situation. Because India is a country where we worship women as goddesses and yet brutalize them in the darkness and kill girls in the womb. That means not even embryos are safe today.

Of course this particular campaign raises awareness. I too was pleased with these ads when I first saw them.  But I think the problem is not religious. 
I don’t think that the typical Hindu men who recites 'Durga Chalisa' everyday would not beat their wives even if they beat them back. This is same in the case of every religion. Most of the rape cases are reporting from slum areas and from the people living in the streets. Do they have any religion? They don’t even know the meaning of the goddess.

This does not mean that, the men in India will stop abusing women from tomorrow, because they are Goddesses or because they love their religion. So, Whatever anyone’s personal spiritual beliefs may be, some values wouldn’t be taught.

The women abused in the history of India are not from a particular religion. So, Even if she is a Hindu, Christian or Muslim, what she needs today is not worship, but humanity.

Even if it is Saraswati, Durga or Mother Mary, or any other spiritual figures that we worship, Respect should come from within one’s mind.

   ‘RESPECT WOMEN NOT BECAUSE THEY ARE GODDESSES, BUT    BECAUSE THEY ARE WOMEN’.

ജനാലക്കപ്പുറത്തെ ലോകം !!

ഇരുള്‍ മൂടിയ നാല് ചുവരുകള്‍ക്കിടയില് നിന്നും   ജനലഴികളിലൂടെ മാത്രം കണ്ടിരുന്ന വിശാലമായ ഇടവഴിയിലേക്ക് നോക്കി പല തവണ കൊതിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

ഒടുവില്‍ പിറകിലെ വാതില് ചവിട്ടി പൊളിച്ച് ആ സ്വപ്നം യാഥാര്‍ത്യമാക്കി. മുന്നില് കണ്ട ഇട വഴിലൂടെ നടന്ന് ഒടുവില് ഹൃദ്യമായ ആ വിശാലതയിലേക്ക്‌....

കെട്ടിടങ്ങളിലെ  ജനാലകളിലൂടെ എത്തി വലിഞ്ഞു നോക്കുനുണ്ടായിരുന്നു കുറേ പേര്‍... ഞാന്‍ അവരെ നോക്കി ചിരിച്ചു, ഉടനെ ആ വാതിലുകള്‍ അടഞ്ഞു..

മുൻപില് കാണുന്നവരെ ഇടിച്ചിട്ടു റോഡിലൂടെ ഓടിയ പലരും നിരത്തില് കണ്ട ക്യൂവിലെ മുന്‍ നിരയില് തന്നെ കയറിപ്പറ്റി.

വഴിയരികില് ചോരയില് കുളിച്ചു കിടക്കുന്ന ആള്‍ പല മുന്തിയ ഫോണുകളുടെയും ക്യാമറക്ക് മുന്നില് ചിരിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് പോസ് ചെയ്തു... ആ  ഫോട്ടോകള്‍ക്ക് മണിക്കൂറുകള്ക്കുള്ളില്‍ 175 ലൈക്കുകളും കിട്ടി. ഷെയര്‍ ചെയ്ത് മിനിട്ടുകള്‍ക്കുള്ളില് അയാളുടെ ഫോണിലേക്ക് നിര്‍ത്താതെ കോളുകള്‍ വന്നു ... അപ്പോഴും അയാള്‍ ഫോട്ടോക്ക് പോസ് ചെയ്യുകയായിരുന്നു. ഗവണ്‍മെന്‍റ് ആശുപത്രിയിലെ മോറ്ച്ചറിയില്. 

ആളൊഴിഞ്ഞ കെട്ടിടത്തിന്റെ പിറകു വശത്ത് വിറകുകള്‍ കൂട്ടി തനിക്കു വേണ്ടി പട്ടടയോരുക്കുകയായിരുന്ന വൃദ്ധയായ സ്ത്രീയും എന്നെ നോക്കി ചിരിക്കുന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അരികില്‍ വായ്ക്കരി ഇടാനായി തയ്യാറെടുക്കുന്ന കാവല് നായയും.

സന്ധ്യ മയങ്ങി തുടങ്ങി....

എന്റെ മുന്നിലൂടെ നടന്നു പോയ പെണ്ണിന്റെ അടക്കിപിടിച്ച കരച്ചില്  ഇരുളിന്റെ മറവില് നിന്നും കേട്ടു. 13 തവണ അവള്‍ കരഞ്ഞു. അവളുടെ അച്ഛന് 13 കുപ്പി കള്ളും കിട്ടി.

അമ്മയുടെ ഏണിലിരുന്നു രാവിലെ പോയ കുഞ്ഞിനെ രാത്രി തെരുവിലെ ഭിക്ഷാടന സംഗത്തിനൊപ്പം കണ്ടു. നഗരത്തിലെ പ്രമുക ലോഡ്ജിനു മുന്‍പില്‍ അവന്ടെ അമ്മയെയും…

ഞാന് ശ്വാസം വലിച്ചെടുത്തു നോക്കി... തൊണ്ടയില് എന്തോ അസ്വസ്ഥത പോലെ. അതെ...!! പ്രാണ വായുവിലും വിഷം കലര്‍ന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. സര്‍വ്വ ശക്തിയുമെടുത്തു വന്ന വഴിയിലൂടെ ഞാന്‍ തിരിച്ചോടി... വേച്ചു വേച്ചു ഒടുവില്‍ എന്റെ വീടിന്റെ പടി കയറി.. ഞാന്‍ ചവിട്ടി പൊളിച്ച വാതില് എന്തൊക്കെയോ കൊണ്ട് അടച്ചു.. കാപട്യത്തിലേക്ക് എന്നെ മോഹിപ്പിച്ച ആ ജനാലകളും...

                 ഇപ്പൊ എനിക്ക് ശ്വസിക്കാം ...!!
